Hourwise is licensed to you, not sold. These terms describe what you may do with it, what it costs, and how a subscription renews and is cancelled.
Hourwise stores your data on your own Mac. There is no account and no server. What that means in detail is in the Privacy Policy.
1. The licence
Subject to these terms, you are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Hourwise on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
You may not sell, rent, lease, sublicense, redistribute or decompile the application, except where that restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
2. Free and Pro
Time tracking and daily review are free, keeping the last seven days of history. Pro adds invoicing, every export format, practice analytics, attribution rules, the learning model and unlimited history.
3. Subscriptions, billing and renewal
Pro is offered as an auto-renewable subscription and as a one-time purchase:
- Monthly — billed every month.
- Yearly — billed every 12 months, and offered with a free trial period where stated in the app.
- Lifetime — a one-time purchase that does not renew and cannot be cancelled, because there is nothing recurring to cancel.
The current price, the length of the subscription period, and the length of any free trial are shown in the app before you confirm a purchase, in your own currency and for your own storefront. Those figures are read from the App Store, so they are always the amount you will actually be charged.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the price and interval shown at purchase unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription. When the free period ends, the subscription begins and you are billed automatically unless you cancel before it ends.
4. Managing and cancelling
You can view, change or cancel a subscription at any time in System Settings › Apple Account › Media & Purchases › Subscriptions, or in the App Store. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Buying Lifetime does not cancel a subscription that is already running. The App Store has no mechanism to do that. If you buy Lifetime while subscribed, cancel the subscription yourself, or you will continue to be charged for it.
5. Refunds
Purchases are handled by Apple, and refunds are at Apple's discretion under the App Store Terms of Service. Requests are made at reportaproblem.apple.com, not to us — we have no ability to issue a refund for an App Store purchase.
6. Your data
Hourwise records which application was frontmost and for how long, on your Mac, and keeps it in a database in the app's own container. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no analytics in the app. You can export it or delete it at any time. See the Privacy Policy.
Keeping backups of your data is your responsibility. The app includes a backup feature; using it is up to you.
7. What Hourwise is not
Hourwise is a record-keeping tool. It does not provide legal, accounting or tax advice, and its output — including invoices, analytics and any figure it displays — is yours to check before you rely on it or send it to a client. You remain responsible for the accuracy of anything you bill.
8. No warranty, and limits on liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the application is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and neither the developer nor Apple will be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from its use.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the consumer law of your own country that cannot be limited by agreement.
9. Apple's role
This licence is between you and the developer of Hourwise, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the application or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
10. Changes
These terms may change as the application changes. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version, and a material change will be noted in the app's release notes.
